Why More Small Businesses Are Driving Hybrid Trucks

Environmental science is a relatively new force within our culture. It came into the public eye in the late ’60s and since then has exploded into a massive movement for global change. We have seen, first-hand, the effects humanity has had on the global climate. Everything from warming on a planetary scale, to simple localized pollution causing serious illness and even death.

As the years roll on, more people take up the cause daily. People are finding new ways to be more environmentally friendly and reduce their impact on the planet. And this is ultimately a good thing. Even if the changes it brings about aren’t noticeable at first. And even if these changes take hundreds of years to come into effect. It will all be worth it if we can halt the environmental damage before it is too late.

There are so many different factors currently playing in the environmental crisis. Huge cooperate factories using massive amounts of powers. Coal and oil refinery plants spew out toxins by the bucket load. Runoff systems from waste disposal plants or nuclear power areas. But one of the biggest issues is cars.

Hybrids

The motor industry is known as being one of the biggest contributors to global pollution. Cars burn oil at an alarming rate and release chemicals back into the atmosphere that, if it was one car, would be harmless. But there are more cars on the planet than people. Not all are active but enough are that it is a nearly constant stream of poison spewed into our atmosphere.

Once this was discovered to be the case, a lot of car firms sought to reduce the carbon emissions of their cars. But some went one step further and moved to a completely different approach. This is where hybrids enter the field.

Hybrids work off two different power systems. A combustion engine and electric battery. Unlike the now popular completely electric cars, these ones cannot be charged. But their batteries are maintained by the combustion engines. Hybrids, as a rule, produce less than half the amount of pollution that a traditional car would produce, making them one of the most environmentally friendly vehicle choices on the planet in terms of fully motorized transport.

Small Businesses

In recent years, more and more small businesses and local firms have made the change to hybrid trucks. And one of the biggest reasons behind this is environmental awareness. But it isn’t the only reason.

As oil prices continue to skyrocket, it is becoming increasingly expensive to fuel large trucks and haulers. Whereas hybrids get much better fuel efficiency and, while their initial purchase cost may be higher, in the long run, they will save enough money to have paid for themselves. For a small company, anything that can save money is a big bonus.

On top of that, more countries are incentivizing companies to purchase more environmentally friendly options. The price of taxing a normal truck in America has risen slowly over the last few years, while tax breaks are being offered to companies that buy hybrid trucks. This, combined with the lower running costs of a hybrid truck, is a great incentive for smaller companies.

Arizona

Arizona is one of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in the USA. Its varied areas and rich culture bring tourists from the world over. And the people of Arizona have a strong sense of duty and pride in their home state. And with that, they are also very conscious of their effort towards changing the world for the better.

A lot of the smaller companies within Arizona have begun a campaign to encourage each other to reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible. Of course, all of this is without hurting their business in the process.

One of the big issues that were arising with the old trucks these companies would use is the localized pollution problems. Arizona is a state filled with a lot of gardens and landscapes that need professional maintenance. So it is very common for people to hire local firms to do yard work for them. But in days past, this mass ordering of yard workers, while great for the economy and the businesses as a whole, created a localized ecosystem of pollution.

Often large trucks and the heaviest polluting vehicles spend most of their time on motorways on out in large open industrial areas. This means the localized pollution issues do not reach the general population.

But this mass exodus of small company trucks working within the city centers and suburbs started to have an adverse effect on the local environment. Local ponds and waterways were becoming dirtier and aquatic life were dying at an increasing rate. Birds stopped appearing as often and plant life was dying at an alarming rate. This was counterproductive to the work being done on gardens and to the plant life by these companies.

A lot of the smaller firms see driving hybrid trucks as the most logical choice. Partly for the price and global commitment to being more eco-friendly, but also as a means to show their local communities that they are actively working for their best interests.

If we all come together and put in a little bit more effort than we currently are, we can build a better, more sustainable future for our children and those that come after us.
